So I'm 100% confident that I will lift my bronco with a 4" lift but I'm not sure as to what setup to go for. There any real difference between brand names with em? BDS, Rough Country and so on. I notice a considerable difference in pricing between brands. Is it just marketing, build quality, or just buying the name of the brand?

On page two of the forum towards the bottom there is a topic about rough country kits that may help with some info.

It seems to me that its yes and no to all?!? Some kits come with shocks, some come with steering stabilizers, some include extended brake lines..................................In my opinion take your time and do your homework, Try to get a kit that first of all suits your needs and driving style ( mud rig vs daily driver ) And secondly one that gives you the most for your money. I'm planning on a very short 2.5 lift and found that JCW has one with shocks ( name brand ) for under $200. Hope this gives some food for thought.

I agree with Mike@Tracy, all of the things you mentioned go into price. When you shop, dont just look at price of the kit. See what all is included and how much they charge for shipping. Alot of places will get your attention with an extremely low price but then stick it too you on shipping by charging you way more than their actual cost to ship. (I have found various sellers on E-bay to be especially bad about that)

Here is an fictional situation to illustrate what I mean. Company "A" sells a 6" suspension lift for $800 and Company "B" sells the same brand kit for $500

Company "A" includes longer springs and drop brackets for front and high arch springs for the rear, drop pitman arm, longer shocks, front swaybar drop brackets and extended brake lines. (all of these are needed to do the lift the right way) They also charge $75 for shipping. Grand total ready to drive: $875

Company "B" includes longer springs and drop brackets for front and high arch springs for the rear. (exactly what is needed to lift the truck 6" as advertised. They also recomend the following options:

1) drop pitman arm: $60

2) new shocks: $100

3) sway bar drop brackets: $45

4) extend brake line kit: $75

Shipping charge with company "B" is $150 for a grand total ready to drive : $920

Which one is the better deal. That was really long winded way of saying shop around, use a pen and paper to write down the offers and what you get from different companies so you can compare bottom lines side by side. You may even be able to get the cheap kit from Company "B" and find the other stuff at your corner parts store for less money and no shipping charges.

Bottom line is you work hard for your money, you should work equally as hard to make sure you get the most for it. ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

That's excellent advice!!! I feel that all of the major brands of kits like Rancho, Skyjacker, Superlift, Rough Country, BDS and a few others are similar in price and quality, it's often a matter of what optional parts you want to get, if any. Basics are longer coil springs, drop brackets for the axle beams and radius arms, a drop Pitman arm for the steering, and at least blocks for the rear springs. You'll also need longer shocks, and possibly new camber alignment bushings. Recently, I have come across a couple of folks that have had a problem with one of the axle drop brackets on the 4" Rough Country kit. The holes for bolting the driver's side bracket do not line up with the stock holes. While that can be fixxed by re-drilling or enlarging the holes, it's extra work that shouldn't have to be done. Personally, I like Sykjacker, Rancho and Superlift, and have not had problems installing those kits. The upgraded versions like the SkyJ Class II use heavy duty brackets that are powdercoated, too. Did you buy you'r kit directly from skyjacker, or a dealer? Either way if there was ANY damage I would let it be known to whomever you got the kit from. Like Roadkill said paychecks dont come easy. I think a lot of us forget that we are the end users of the products these companies put out, Coments and complaints should be voiced. We pay for quality parts, We deserve quality parts and we should not settle for anything less!!!!!

We display stickers and decals from our favorite manufacturers like badges of honor, on our trucks, toolboxes, in our garages and anywhere else our wives will let us. WE ARE the reason the aftermarket 4x4 industry is what it is. In my opinion these people work for us!! If you are not satisfied with a product or a company LET THEM KNOW!!

WOW! where did that come from?? :-"
