have a little Q....

Since the chevy blazer and the Bronco is so alike and my rear leaf-springs is getting werry tierd of living...i'm woundering if the leafsprings from a Blazer can or will fit my 89 Bronco xlt

Spare-parts for Bronco is extremely hard to come by here in sweden, but there is plenty for the Blazer

I have been in contact whith the Swedish Motor Vehicle Inspection Co and i've got a suggestion from them to mount a couple of coil-springs on the rear axel, and by that "strenghtening" the rear suspension, this will be totaly legal for me and i dont have to by new leafs

I have used rear leaf springs off of both a 1/2 ton Ford pickup & Ford Econoline van in a pinch & they have bolted right on. Not the spring rate I wanted but got me home.

I don't know if you'll have more luck with finding them but I have to believe they are more popular then blazers? Maybe the blazer parts are more available be cause they need more help!!!!!

I believe you can mount almost anything if you can do the fabrication. Since both vehicles weigh about the same, the springs should have similar characteristics. You could probably use the leaf springs plus shackles off a Blazer unless that would be a problem for the inspection.

Why don't you find a Blazer and take some measurements.

Good luck,

:)>-

I took some measurements this evening. The Ford Bronco rear leaf springs are 3" wide by 54" in length eye-to-eye. The Chevy truck/Blazer leafs are 2.5" wide by 52" long.

yup, blazer springs are too narrow and too short. you have a couple of options. one would be to pick up a add-a-leaf, which basically adds one more leaf to your rear spring pack, increasing the over all height of the stock pack. most come in 2-3" lift heights. it might be too much, but if your springs are sagging it might be perfect. the other option, which is the route i took, is to pull the rear leaf springs from a f-250, any yea 80-96 will work, 2wd or 4wd doesnt matter. those will give you about 3" of extra lift, b/c they are a slightly heavier rate and have more arch to them. both options are 100% street legal

The aal (add-a-leaf) is a good suggestion to help out the sagging rear springs. Most lift companies and aftermarket sites sell those.
