the ehaust pipe is just to connect the filter to the air tubes. some guys use PVC instead. its just a matter of what you find and want to use. It works just as good as the 250 dollar kit. there is a spot in the K&N Filter where there breather line plugs into it. the way it is set up on mine, it is below the air tubes. Some guys plug the hole in the filter and just put a breather filter you can buy from the ricer section at advanced/autozone and put on the breaher line instead of it going into the airfilter.

the red is what i had.

So basically do you drill a hole into the tub but how do you attach it? Sorry for all the questions, but **** if i can save $250 and put it into my new exhaust system than I will take it.

you dont have to drill a hole in the tub. if you pop your hood, you will see a lip where the outer fender panel meets the inner panel. fashion an "L" bracket out of thin metal, ***** it into the provided hole ont he filter, then drill a hole through that lip and bolt it on. incredibly simple. if you jog over to FSB and search for "ghetto K&N" you'll come up with a number of writeups

has anyone ever tested a paper filter. most flow 250 - 300 cfm. there is where the gain is. and as long as we are talking about filter placement, cowel induction is the best

there is a ***** tip on the end of the filter for the bracket that came with the kit. you can do as ocalabronco said.

or what i did, was drilled a hole in each exhaust pipe. Cleaned out the shavings. Then I made this bracket out of stainless steel. (thanks to being good friends with the sheet metal shop in my unit i can get some scrap to make stuff like this)

it basically looks like this

I then drilled a hole in each of the "ears" and used bolts from our benchstock to fasten them to the exhaust pipe. Drilled a hole through the middle and a hole in the plastic inner fender and used that bolt you see to mount it to the inner fender. Holds it nice and sturdy.

ask away. always nice when i am able to return the favor.

and also as ocalabronco pointed out FSB has a lot over there by searching for "Ghetto Fab K&N"
