i have a 93, 351 bronco. i got to start it and it makes a whinning noise w/ a vibration in the gas pedal, not horrible but enough to notice. it will go for a few seconds, stop, then a few more seconds, stop. does this like 3-4 times. this noise/vibration also occurs while im driving. ive notice it when im at a steady rpm (1500), mainly around 45mph. ill let off the gas or accelerate above that and it will stop. can anybody help me out. i really need to fix this. im moving halfway across the country at the end of summer and she has to get me there. thanks everyone.

Can you have someone check under the hood with a piece of old garden hose, shop vac hose or a gift wrap cardboard tube and use it as a stethoscope to pin-point the problem area (be careful of fan/belts!)

A few guesses:

idler pulley

fan clutch

tensioner could be tight/seized, putting tension on the alternator bearing, & bearing failure (does it sound high pitched?)

also, do you have the AC or defroster on when this happens?

ok, that helps to know; can only guess from here as to what the problem is.

ck out with the garden hose to pin-point the noise area.
