After several years asv a Broncoless driver, I have decided to once again purchase one of these spectacular vehicles. I have located, locally, a dealrship with a 96 Bronco XLT (w/ 5.8L) with 95,000 miles. It was checked out by a local reputable garage. It needs about $1,400 worth of work- front brake rotors and pads, rear shoes, rear shocks, balljoint. I was forced to pay the steep price of reaplacing the shackle brackets on my last bronco. However, they have already been replaced on this one. The interior is mint and the worst rust in the whole vehicle is inbetween the rear door and body. The garage also said the engine was in "very good condition for the age". The dealer is asking $6,995; i have talked him down to $5,100 if i take care of fixing everything. I am trying to get him down to $4,500 but he doesnt want to budge. Is this still a good deal @ $5,100? it comes with a 30-day warranty. I was thinking of getting him to extend it if i pay his price. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, I know u guys are perhaps the most knowledgeable bronco enthusiasts out there!

Sounds decent to me. I don't know where you live, so not sure what the market is like there. When I bought my '96, it was from a dealer in Liberty Hill, TX. Like yours it needed ball joints and brakes all the way around. My interior was/is emaculate, everything (including electric windows) works, and the truck has no rust. (look in my Broncozone Gallery) I paid $7000 for mine (talked down from 9) and did all the work myself.

Kelly Blue Book assumes that the vehicle is in excellent condition and therefore lists value as $7100. GO BUY IT RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike and Tracy are right. Why are you still typing? Go on - Get! Get out of here.

Thank you for your replies. I didn't mention that i live in Cape Cod, Massachusetts- where everything is pretty expensive and there is a LOT of salt in the air- so rust is pretty common around here. I am going to call the dealer either tonight or tomorrow and tell him its a deal.

I just talked to the dealer and he pulled the whole scam about there being another buyer that really wants "but is having credit problems" so i can get it but i need to pay cash tomorrow. I think it's a boatload of ***** but I've decided I really want it, so I'm going to pay for it tomorrow. God, how I hate car salesmen! I hope to have it in my possesion by the weekend and will get pics up ASAP.Thanx again everyone, esp. Mike @ Tracy. I plan to continue participating in this site and will keep everyone posted on future technical ventures.( I eventually hope to put a slight lift on).
