Interior Dome Light

Have 1990 Bronco recently purchased. Interior dome light will not work. Was in pretty rough shape so installed newer one that I tested to work. Still will not come on. Any ideas on tracing the problem??

The attached picture is from a 1983 EVTM but as far as the dome lights go, it is the same. The light green with yellow stripe wire in this diagram is brown in your truck, (the part from the main light switch to the center contact on the dome light). Fuse 8 is still the same. there are three paths to light the dome lights, one for the switch on the dome light, one via the door jam switch, and one from the main light switch. It will be easier if you have a meter to trouble shoot with. Also, if all three paths fail, check the grounding which is done via one of the mounting screws.
