Im gettin some new tires soon on my truck. Im wonderin if i should get Super Swamper TSLs or Thornbird TSLs. Ive driven trucks with the swampers and trucks with boggers, so i know what the Super Swamper TSL can do off road. But ive never driven anything with the thornbirds, i know they both howl on the road but i like that sound so it aint a issue :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> . I just wanna know if i should get what i know works or try these thornbirds out. What do yall think? I also drive the truck on the road but off road performance is more important to me then how theyll last.

Your best bet is find some people online who have them and see how they rate them for on/off road use. Also what ply are the thornbirds?

Im not sure i havent looked yet i know there both bias ply, the swampers in the 33-12.50 are 6 ply, i tink the thornbirds are 6 ply too. But the thing i like about the 33" thornbirds is you can get them in more then just 12.50, theres a alot of choices for the width.

i had the thornbirds on my 93 f-150 for a while before my body lift. 35x14.50's. they look good, but are crap in the mud. i know, the tread looks wicked and one would think that it would churn the mud out between the lugs, but they don't. they just pack the mud in the tread and make your tire into a racing slick. there's just not enough space between the lugs to throw it out. also, they wore out quick driving them on the road. i would highly recommend the super swamper ssr. they are radials and will last longer than a bias ply, and look alot like the regular tsl's. good luck.

the thornbird isnt the tire for mud. the close groves in the tread allow the mud to pack in and therefor u got slicks.

get the tsl's , they will self clean better, and if properly rotated last a little bit of time on the road.

yea definitely go with the tsl's ofr mud and for highway purposes check into the radial tsl. now this doesnt make the thornbird a bad tire by any means. my friends out on the west coast tell me they are great in sand. but their close tread design doesnta allow them to self clean when you spin them. in all reality the tsl is your best bet unless you plan to do alot of driving in the sand

Well i think im gonna get the Super Swamper TSLs, theve plowed though alot of stuff up here like snow, mud and rocks and they do pretty good in loose rocks and rocks crawls. And i have seen them last alright if you keep them maintained and rotated.
