I just put 6 new shocks on my rig and from what I could tell the hardware was metric. Had a hard time finding a socket to fit. A 11/16th would go on with some persuasion (small hammer). Is this the norm or have my tools shrunk in the heat? I have a few metric socket and wrenches but not a full set. Hate to think that I have to go buy a set of metric tools to work on my American made truck.

Well ,a 3/4" S.A.E. and 19mm are the same size, so you really need an 18mm metric wrench for some of the shock bolts. I use two Crescent wrenches, but a 3/4" will sometimes work. You don't need to tighten the bolts/ nuts beyond the point that the shock bushings squash, JSM84

Al ot of the later ford trucks are going to metric just like the rest of the world  /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> In fact the later fords and Broncos have the letters M-E-T-R-I-C stamped on the transmission pan so you don't round off the heads of the oil pan bolts.
