Well, and I qualify this with a disapproving shake of my head (but hey it's not my truck and who am I to control the flow of information ?), the cheapest & easiest way will be to install a line-lock. That will allow a reasonable smoke show w/o destroying your rear brakes. Gotta say that while I know for sure that it works fine in a Mustang, Monte Carlo or Charger you may run into problems with a Bronco. First off there's a chance that you'll just push it along even with the front brakes locked (I doubt it actually would but I've never tried it personally w/a truck so I'm just throwing it out there as a concern) but if you've got a standard you can always just dump the clutch and once the rears lose traction & start spinning they won't have the juice to push it around (or shouldn't anyways). Also, if you're running larger tires be aware (very aware) that the increased distance from the ground to the center of the axle shaft created by the taller sidewall makes for a much larger lever affect on the rear end and you may experience some viscious wheel-hop on pavement (this I *have* seen personally)my buddy has a cherokee and the other day when leaving work he sat and just burnt his tires up, as far as i know its stock, what would it take to make my bohemeth do it.any performance parts would be great. thanx >
Oh jeez, my bad I wasn't even looking at your tag. Forget it Chief. You're just flat out NOT going to light up 33's w/a stock engine & C6. Not gonna happen, no way, no how. Buy yourself a cheap set of 29's and you can maybe pull a rabbit out of your a$$ but not w/33's. To *begin* with you gear ratio is SOOOOO far away from being what you need to spin them on pavement that I won't even get into it and then add to that the size of the contact patch that 33x12.5's give you and you can just kiss this one goodbye. I can tell you with absolute certainty that there's nothing short of a 460 or a 150hp nitros shot ( *noss* for those who missed my earlier post. N02 is not NOS, that's a 2 guys & girls not an "s", learn not to embarass yourselvs). Really man, you're not pulling this one off unless you're about to swap the motor *anyways* and just want to ***** around and spray parts all over the parking lot (which is always a lot of fun but usually even more fun with someone *elses* ride). I've been there and admit to having done it, it's fun to see just what it takes to throw a piston thru the hood but that's about what it will take to smoke a set of 33's. I'm not looking to harsh your buzz but it takes big boy torque to smoke 33's even WITH a bleach/water spray. Your buddy with the Cherokee wasn't running 33's I can tell you that much. You can still do it but you'll have to get yourself a set of cheapo 29's to do it with, call a boneyard they'll have a set you can buy *with* rims for less than $150 and you can smoke them till they're bologna skins if you want but I absolutely guarantee that trying to spin & smoke 33's is a really bad idea in a stock Bronco, even IF you manage to do it the wheel-hop alone will probably send the truck off to one side and the axle off to the other. If you REALLY need to do this then please keep my address and give me a shout afterwards because I'm looking for a parts truck.FYI dumping the clutch or a netural drop is a bad idear in a 6,000lb truck wit an 8.8inch rearend.....trustme i know don't ask......unless u like the spyder gears to find their way into the ring and pinionh34r: /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
also get rid of those 33's for smaller tires and it should light them up
"and yes kids it's pronounced nitros *not* noss, shaking my head once again"
You dont know what this means to me... I am literally crying laughing so hard right now... I run a parts department in a Honda dealership and here these knuckleheads coming in talking about their "NOSS" setups and i cringe every time I hear it. I am with you man, say it right or sound stupid saying it wrong..... Thanks for the laughs, I needed it this morning... By the way, my two cents, I still have the vacuum tube washer pump setup in my 61 Ranchero that I put in back in the early 90's when I was trying to impress my buddies with smoke shows... This does work but I doubt I would try it with large tires....
Best of luck and take pics to post when you do smoke the tires and any carnage that might follow...
