I have a 351 in my 86 bronco but the oil dipstip tube was kinked and when I tried to bend it back it snapped! I Threaded a plug in the engine but now is there any way to check my oil level? I can easily unthread the plug and put a piece of wire in but I dont know how far down it should go? Anyone have any ideas?

thanks - Erik

I agree with Yardape but I hope you held onto the old parts so you could match them up or you'll have to check by doing an oil change and either marking the new stick or verifing of proper level

Im picking up a new tube today but I was an idiot and pitched the old tube! It hopefully is a direct replacement but if not looks like I'll have to drain as much oil as I can get out and refill...

thx-- Erik

Measure the length of tube you broke off (actually better to cut it evenly below the kink/break point) , cut the same exact lenght off you dipstick and etch the full mark on the new shortened end (lay the cutoff end on it and copy/scribe it), then multiply the circumfrence by Pi and divide by the radius times the inverted... or just lay out $10 for a new tube.
