yard ur forgetting the new axles oh and since its still got the original tape deck in it a new cd player.....maybe a new set of speakers....oh and since im doing speakers i should add a p.a. and a 2 new mufflers so it sounds cool then i should probably paint it... heck ill do a nugent and paint it like a zebra oh and rhino line the under side to prevent rust

god dang it i know too many jeep drivers

fire- i just keep thinking that as soon as i buy it im going to find a better deal. but i probably will find cheaper but i doubt in this condition i like the fact that it was a company car so i know that the maintainance was up to date and he has the records

Maintence Records can tell alot about about the truck other than just when services were done, but also things like if it had reocurring problems and what you can expect to fix if parts haven't needed servicing in the past. The guy I bought my truck from was a Ford Service Advisor and with my truck I got a three ring binder full of service records and receipts. sorry got a little off topic.

Well it sounds like a great deal to me, the rust isn't an issue if you know how to weld or use bondo after your prep work, The gear selecter is going to need a new cable most likly LMC Truck has all the parts for that, The manifold is questionable depending if it is exhaust or intake but either way YES they are easy fixes you can fix if you have a mechanical background, The turn signal switch is an easy fix, take the steering wheel off and replace the switch, the switch is held in by 3 Philip head screws, and the RPM are correct if there is no over drive on the trans,2900 to 3100 is your high way speed. You can install an over drive system on the trans if you want to save fuel but if your like me i don't care about saving fuel. I have a 1981 Ford granada with a 351W (NOT STOCK) with a C6 trans Pushing over 400HP and it is an **** of a ride. I hope this info helps if you have any other question please ask sent me an email at [email protected].

I do believe the question was what is the best way to fix this problem. I would personally just buy it and drive it. If and when he falls in love with it then worry about restoring it.
I guess I stayed focused on his original question which was...

"hes asking 2000 but in a round about way told me he'd take 1500

is it worth it?"

When I asked how much would the body work repair cost?

The cost of the body work, according to JSM is approx $1000 whcih brings the cost of the truck to $2500 or $3000.
