I jsut got this bronco from my sister. It's broken and needs help.

My brother in law popped the clutch really hard and now it woun't move.

I can put it in 4L; hubs not locked and it will move very slow. Will NOT move in any other position.

Is it a transfer case problem, or just a bad clutch?

the Bronco is and '84 with 300 6 cyl and 4 speed with 208 transfer case.

Thanks.

I would check the clutch. Sounds like it might need changed.

When I have it in 2WD, it wont move at all. I put it in gear, let off the cluck and nothing hapopens. I put it in anything other than 4L and it won't move at all. I put it in 4L, let off the clutch and it will lurch forward and go VERY slowly.

I would be so happy :D/ if it were just a clutch or linkage problem.

That is very interesting since putting it in 4L engages the front drive. Have you had anyone watch the rear drive shaft to make sure it is turning. How about putting the rear end up on jack stands so the wheels are off the ground and then check to see if the wheels turn when in gear. Transfer case in 2H only.

Solution!!!! :D/

My Dad and I opened up the transfer case and...............parts fell out. Broken parts. Further investigation revealed that the gear that drives the rear drive shaft was CHEWED!!. /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Totally stripped out. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Does anyone know of a place that sells a complete rebuild kit?

What I find locally is just kits for replacing the seals and bearings.

I can also pickup a used case for about $350.....unless somebody has one cheaper. :-" :-"
