So even if your coolant is topped off, you have luke warm air at best.

THere are three other possibilities.

1. The heater core is clogged and needs to be replaced. If it is leaking it needs to be replaced. It is located on the passenger side up behind and perhaps a llittle below the glove box. Ifit is, and has been leaking onto your carpet, you should see traces of it there.

If your heater is clogged, you could try disconencting the heater hoses and forcing water through them with your garden hose. It *may* flush enough gunk out of it that you *may* get accaptable heat. Past experience with other cars, is that although that will *help* it won't be nearly as satisfactory as actually changeing the core.

2. It is possible that the outside of your core is blocekd with leaves and crap. Please see the other thread I pointed regarding that.

3. There is a temperature "blend door" that is actuated by either a cable mecahnism, or a vacuum mechanisim. The door directs the air from the blower to travel into the cab either through the heater core, or around the heater core. IF that is not moving by way of the cable or by way of the vacuum actuator, AND/ OR if it is not fully sealing and is allowing air to go around the core when it is supposed to be going through the core then you will not get much heat.

Hello all! I am very new to Broncozone.com since I just picked up a Bronco on 05/16/08. I have been reading through this forum and I think I am having the same problem.

The heat in my 96 (Eddie B., 5.8 V8) is luke warm. It does not seem to get very hot at all, even after a bit of highway and and around town driving (The AC works awesome). I don't know if this is related, but the temp gauge barely moves off of "C." It does move, just not very much (about 1/10 of its potential movement). Like I said, I just picked her (Jinny) up and I haven't had a chance to start looking into the problem. I usually like to see if someone is having a related problem before I start taking things apart without really having a clue. I am going to my friends shop tonight to give the truck a thorough check-up on the lift. I will start off tonight by checking the anti-freeze levels, but any other ideas and thoughts that haven't been discussed yet I am more than interested in. To the starter of this forum, you never mentioned in you were having problems with the temp gauge and the heat.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in Advance!

Hey Blade,

Welcome to BroncoZone :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I suspect that the most likely culpret for you is a thermostat that is stuck open, or maybe even missing  /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I don't know your abilites.. two bolts, and a new gasket.

BroncoJoe19,

Right on the money!!!! I drained the coolant, and removed the thermostat. It was completely busted. On the spring side there are two pieces of metal that form an "A" shape to hold the spring in place. One side was completely cracked and was not allowing the spring to opperate correclty. I relpaced the thermostat, and did a coolant flush with some cleaner that a buddy of mine recommended. Fill the system back up and now everything works great. The needle for the temp gauge sits at the "O" in Normal. Thanks for the input; greatly appreciated. Now on to the next subject of replacing the bushings on the front end that go from the suspension back to the frame. That's a whole other chat!
