I'm trying to take off my hard top to my 94 bronco. Until I found out the weird bolt that you need to take off. So my question is what do I need to buy to take off my hard top.

I just took mine off yesterday for the first time, and my 87 Bronco only required a Phillips screwdriver and 5/16 wrench.... I'm not sure what the differences between that 87 and 94 are except you alsop have the third brake light to deal with....

Yeah, the 92-96 Broncos use a tamper-proof Torx bit, which is a star-shaped bit like a regular Torx but with a small dimple in the middle. Just stop by any auto parts store, and check the fit on the one you get. I found 3 or 4 different style and kept having to go back until I found the right one. The size is something like T-40, might find it in another thread, JSM84

I found a set of tamper proof torx bits at Sears. It's been a couple of years but I think they were $15-$20. They have come in pretty handy because they can also be used on regular torx screws as well and the kit had every one I have needed so far on my '96. From the tail light lens to the seat armrests to the shoulder belt anchors on the hard-top, even the screws that hold the plastic on the dash.

I also got the whole kit for around $20 but they're supposed to be "unbreakabel" but tell me how I've already broke the little wings off the big one? Oh well, but they do come in hand ALL the time.
