At one time, I was getting 16+ mpg after K&N, Flowmaster dual exhaust, and rebuilt ignition with all new (but stock) parts.

After 6" lift, 35" tires and 4.56 gears it gets about 11 mpg on a good day. The best milage improvement I have for it now is to put it on a trailer. My '08 GMC Z71 gets 12.5 mpg when towing the beast. That's about 13% more than the Beast gets under its own power. B)

By the way, the GMC has the 5.3L V8 with "Active Fuel Management" (fancy language for shuts down 4 cylinders at times to save fuel) and gets 20 mpg on the highway (when the Bronco is not tailgating it).

I heard about that. I know the fords do that when they start to overheat ( which is unlikely ). They use the other cylinders to pump air to help cool the motor. Now they just got to turn those cylinders off when on the highway.
