What is your gas milage now? What mods (tires, gears, etc.) do you have on your Bronco now? You have to remember that the '78-'79 Bronco's were set up to run at 55 MPH, so this is were they get their best milage. If you have bigger tires and have not changed your gears, you have put the engine outside of it's "optimum performance band", so your gas mileage will suffer. I have an Edlebrock intake and cam with 4.11 gears (33" tires) and get around 10-12 MPG @ 70 MPH. If I run at 55 MPH, my gas mileage goes up, but then everyone is passing me on the freeway.

Gas milage? I thought it was measured in feet :(( . Go to the home page and search on Milage, you will get tons of hits and lots of suggestions. You could hook a flexable hose up to the nearest gas station :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .

good luck,

right now I have 31" tires with stock gears I get about 6 miles to the gallon right now but everything is pretty much stock I am just starting to rebuild it, its been used as a farm truck for years and I am just looking for suggestions before I start tearing this thing appart. I want to build a daily driver that wont get stuck in the mud and still has a little get up and go.

Yup, thats a gas hog, normal is 10 - 15 and some even get a little better. Sounds like you need to do some serious work to get it up there. What shape is the vacuum system in? How does it run? New carb might not hurt. Possibly a rebuild or swap of the engine. selecting a better tire gear match, etc.

I was serious about going back and doing a search in this forum on the word, "milage", there are tons of suggestions. Probably every possible suggestion on improving milage is containd in this forum.

You have a nice platform to build on but it wasn't designed with economy in mind.

Good luck,

:)>-

Hopless-Fear not, all is not hopeless on the gas milage, here is a couple of suggestions. If you're running 31" tires, think about changing gears, maybe to 4:11 or 4:56. Intake and cam work will help, I have Edlebrocks performer intake and cam which has helped me out. I stayed with the stock 2BBL carb (2150) as I felt I didn't need the 4BBL carb for off road. I get around 11-13 MPH on the highway. Last but not least, carry a siphon hose around and a spare gas can, you'll never have to pay for gas again....till you get caught.
