I'm new to the group and I'm looking for some advice. I'm looking to buy a "71" , according to the title, with 302 this weekend. My issue... when searching VIN # on the body it appears to be a 69. However, the VIN on the frame (which is different) comes back as 71. The front axle is a Dana 30 and not the 44 I expected. The fenders have been cut, but no flares installed. There are some body panel aliment issues, but not to major. I have checked the entire Bronco for rust and it's minor. The interior has very little of the original remaining. It runs and drive okay for it's age. Now my question... What do you think it's worth as is?

Second issue...  I feel there may be an issue with title as I stated title list it as 1971, but the VIN on title comes back as 1969. The VIN in glove box match that of title. The VIN on frame comes back as 1971. Any advice would is appreciated.

For reference the glove box VIN is U15GLE..... and the frame VIN is U14FLL.....

Yo,

Welcome!

Does it have a rebuilt title? If so, will you insurance company or any insurance company take it on?

If none will insure it with a rebuilt title, value is very low except for salvage.

Local yard would rebuild vehicle for many, many years, but stopped when potential customers could not obtain collision insurance.

Here are the NJ motor vehicle documents needed to obtain a title, purchase a

"Salvage" vehicle...

Thanks for info. It's a Texas title and it is not a salvage title. The VIN is shown on title is correct, but I know the year is incorrect. The title does state "VIN certification waived".  I assume this means that they did not need to prove the make the vehicle. This could explain why the year shown on title is not correct. The only other issue with title is the current and previous current never switch the title into their names.

Yo,,

Ok,

Here is info on Texas's "VIN certification waived"

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://extlists.txdmv.gov/pipermail/vtr-tac/attachments/20100817/467e5930/attachment-0002.doc&ved=0ahUKEwjt44eaooLNAhWEaT4KHa18BBcQFggbMAA&usg=AFQjCNGVqOt4dvscIoPaleC4Ha2v5fRKqQ&sig2=uSqU0fbPnk2155-1ApeWSw

The DPS Form VI-30 (Out-of-State Identification Certificate form) was not provided when an O/S vehicle was first titled in Texas, when a vehicle was apprehended or with Title-Only applications. Remark is used to advise the county tax offices to require a new title application that includes the VIN certification form if the vehicle is registered at a later date or on any subsequent Texas title applications.

Is the seller explaining why the vin, etc. seem funky? If it a "I dunno" or "I bought it this way",

I would pass.

btw, 69 has Front Differential = Dana 30 w/Drum Brakes

71 Dana 30 w/Drum Brakes (Mid-year Change to Dana 44 w/Drum Brakes)

Thanks again. I purchased the Bronco today. I made an agreement with seller...   If I cannot register it then my funds will be returned.  I will post the outcome after going to DMV.

The seller cannot explain the VIN issue. They were advertising as 71 Bronco, which is what shown on the title. They honestly did not appear to know about the VIN issue until I pointed it out and showed them the Vin Decoder info.

On VIN.

Frame VIN, shows build date as June of 1971. So this is why I was expecting to see a 44.

Glove box VIN, shows build date as Oct. 1969.

Got the title problem worked out. I was required to secure a bonded title, which cost $140. Money well spent!

I will be posting pics as my son and I rebuild it...   and so course I'm sure I will be asking for advise during the process.

I will be sure to contact Jeff's Bronco for any parts we need.
