I own a '74 with a manual 3spd on the floor. Planning on flat-towing it about 80 miles to Hollister Hills OHV Park. The truck came with a tow bar that attaches to the front bumber (which is welded to the frame).

Can I just hook up, put her in neutral and go?

I've heard something about disconnecting the rear drive shaft. Necessary? why?

For a short distance, no it isnt necessary to disconnect. But for long distances it is recommended for wear and tear purposes.

Yah,

The story goes; With the rear output shaft sitting above the oil level, it doesn't get the gear oil that it normally gets while the rig is runn'n. That output bearing is going to run with with what 'lil amount of oil that's resting on it.....so it's your call... ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
