I want to get my exhaust system redone, one reason being more power. My question is, if I get a new setup now, with my stock 302, will I have to have it reworked to fit my 351 when I go to drop it in there, or will it match up?

The setup floating in my head is a True Dual American Thunder with FLowmaster 50 Series Flowmaster's with Magnaflow Cats (that DON'T narrow down) and all this on 4" pipe.

If it's not going to match up, then I have to weigh the cost of putting it off till I get my 351 rebuilt, or getting it doen now and then paying again to have the connection from he pipes to the system redone to fit (which I'm not exactly against, if it's not gonna cost an arm and a leg.)

I want my Bronco to sound to everyone else as she does to me in my mind: Loud, strong, and with enough guts to go through **** and back.

Thanks for the answers in advance, guys. My number one source for info - broncozone.com

When you talk about your 351, are you refering to a 351m or a 351w? I sure hope its a windsor you have and not a 351 modified as your signature implies. No disrespect meant or anything but a 351m is garbage, not worth the trouble of the swap. You were better off with the 460 swap you were asking about before.

It's a 351m, from a '77 f-250 highboy. I'm hoping it's better than my 302, but I could be wrong? Maybe it's just better to stick with the 302?

well a 351m is a more powerful motor but a 302 is a very good motor to have, if it doesnt have enough power you can always get gears in your truck or upgrade the 302, as for the exhaust, i dont think it will fit because the blocks are diff in some ways, ask a moderator who would def be able to tell you, because im not 100% sure

Unless you put a 302 back in, you are going to have to change that part of the exhaust.

Burns, I seem to be the only nay-sayer here on your swap ideas. Its really not that practical of a swap. Sure it CAN be done, but not worth the trouble you will go through to get it in. You can put any engine into any vehicle if you really wanted to, heck put a viper engine in there. You'll have the same headaches. For a simple swap stick with the same engine family. 289 302 351w are the same family. That swap would be a lot more feasable. If you really want to get rid of your 302, stick a 351w in there. Wont make a lot of difference like 25-50 horsepower. Or go to Ford Motorsport website and have a look at a GT-40 crate engine. 350 Horsepower for about $5500.00 complete. That will drop right in. 5 grand may be alot of money but after your nickle and dimed to death trying to gather all the parts you will need to install that 351m I'm sure you'll hit the 5 grand mark easy. And you have a used engine ith a little over half the power. The choice is yours of course but I just wanted to let you know what your up against.
