Has anyone tried or is it possible to swap in (understanding of course all the work that will be needed on the wiring harness and computer setup)something like a 2002 Ranger V-6 Engine and Tranny to a '69 or '70 Bronco? I'm working out the details of a project and I wanted to go a slightly different route for the drive-train. Thanks for any help.

Hi Tegerian., Welcome......,

Great question..! I've wondered that myself. I think the Ranger is a 4.0 with trans. & transfer 4x4.

My F-150 is a 4.2 & has a lot of get-up & go...!!! However., the fullsize trucks with 4x4, I believe, all came with V/8's.

I would think "Advanced Adaptors" would have many mix-n-match parts/setups.

Some of the older Land Cruiser folks do the Chev. V/6 setup & have real good performance doing so. (I think it's called "Vortec" ...??)

Do post your progress... >:D< <'>

Thanks for the Advance Adaptors info, I'll definitely keep a record and share if I go this route.

It would be cheaper and easier to go the 5.0 efi route. It's a drop in motor, and all the hard part (wiring harness, computer, etc) has already been figured out. Your gas mileage will improve, and if you want, you can tune it to nearly 400 hp. It doesn't really answer your question, but it may give you another option. Getting that V6 motor and trans to mount will require some fabrication, and you'll probably be on your own, because I don't think that's a real popular swap.

Yup, I understand it would require some fabrication, but I am still chasing it down for the moment. I have a reasonable source for Ranger engines and tranny's, so I am trying to figure out the feasibility now, I like the Ranger V-6 it has decent power and the gas mileage shouldn't be too bad.
