I have decided to put a 460 in my 79 Bronco. I need ideas as to performance boosters. The Bronco is mostly stock, if that helps at all.

Two years ago I dropped the timing chain in the 351M (with 200K miles) so it was replace or repair time. I went with a 460cid engine from a 78 lincoln, and used the kit from L&L Products to install it, I also sprung for the Ultra flow headers (in-frame) and then fabricated my own brackets for alt, power steering. Only problems encountered were a defective oil pump, and increased tire wear:p

Mine is a 78 bronco with 33x12.50 tires, 3.50 gears and was a DD till $3.00/gal gas!

If your's is equiped with the stock C6 trans, it is a good idea to have it rebuilt, or freshened up a bit during the swap as mine lasted about 2 months with added tourque and horsepower.

Does the 460 bolt up to the same C6 the 351M linked up to when stock?

I don't know if bolting it up to the C6 in the Bronco would be a good idea, though. The tranny is almost completely beat. Doubt it has very many miles left.

Rebuild the tranny while you have it out. Either do it youself for around $400.00 or have it done professionaly for around $1000.00. Haynes has a real good book on rebuilding the C-6 that will take you through it step-by-step. If you have it rebuilt by a good shop, ask them about up-grading it with AO4D guts to drop your 1st and 2nd gears.
