i have my 87 bronco with the 351w and a c6 tranny. i was wondering what it would take to swap it for a 460. im fixing to buy the 460 block cuz there is no replacement for displacement. does the transfer case have to be moved back or what? fi know it would take new motor mounts and some other mods, but if anyone has done it before would you please tell me what you did and what might make it easier? Thank you!

If they're fuel injected then a new ecm along with a new transmission. The bell housings are different and I believe you'll need to stiffen the front suspension a little due to the weight of the engine. Just my $.02

I'm in the process of the same swap. You will need a big block C-6. All the accesory brackets, exhaust. The best way is have a donor truck, you will be chasing parts for quite awhile and when all is said and done you would have saved just by buying a whole truck. Getting the engine is the easy part, just because you have the block doesnt mean you are there yet.

Agreed, good advice and what I did for my swap. The 460 mounts I used from Bronco Graveyard appear to move the 460 forward about an inch, so the C6 and t-case align in the same location as my stock ones did with the 351W H.O. Your t-cse will fit the big block C-6, so you can re-use your iriginal if you want. I sold my NP208, and have a B-W 13-56 from the F-350, since the driveshafts I'm using are also from a truck. You will prolly have to re-locate the oil filter, or notch your engine crossmember. The 460 oil filter is on the driver's side front and will hit the x-mbr. My 88 F350 also had an external oil cooler that mounts by the radiator, so I had to route the two lines for it away from the exhaust. I also used a shorter oil filter so it doesn't hit the steering gearbox. you may also have to modify or adapt the shift linkage from your Bronco to fit the 460 C6, as they'll likely be different to some extent. All in all, not a hard swap, and well worth it!!! JSM84
