I bought a 78 bronco w/a 9 in skyjacker lift 39.5 boggers and a 351m/400 with a c6 auto. My dad came to me last week and said a friend of his has a 460 in his garage that he inherited when a relative of his passed away, and he said I can have it for nothing. Just get it out of his way. I knew immediately that I was going to take it which brings me to my question. Do I have to change anything to do the swap, besides motor mounts? I believe that the 351m/400 is considered a BB so the tranny case should bolt up with no problem, so all I would really have to worry about is the flywheel right?!?

What is the 460 out of? Was it standard or auto? If it was a standard transmission then you wheel need to change the flywheel for a flexplate. The bellhousing pattern is the same.

thats part of the problem there is no tranny, and its just sitting on an engine stand right now so he doesn't know what it was in. Also the u-joints and the axles are bridges I will cross when I get there.

Have a look when you get it, if it has a flywheel then you need a flexplate. If it has a flexplate your good to go.

Easy way to give you an idea of what was behind it is to look in the center of the crank in the back of the motor . If theres a pilot bushing in it then it was more than likely off a manual tranny . If there is a bushing in it and it was in front of an automatic the previous owner was probably wondering why he couldnt keep the front pump in the tranny :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
