DUI Anyone?

I am looking for opinions on the Davis Unified Ignition (DUI) systems. I have been an avid off-roader for years with subscriptions to dang near every off-road magazine and a loyal fan to Trucks! on Spike every weekend. When they first came out, the DUI's were the talk of the community, but in the last few years, the chatter has tailored off and when I mention them now, everyone thinks I'm talking about something you hafta go to court for. I am looking to upgrade the ignition system on my '92 XLT with the 351W and still like the sound of this system from the website ( http://www.performancedistributors.com/forddui.htm ), but am interested in what some of you more experienced engine tweakers have to say or would suggest instead.

The DUI HEI dizzy's for Ford's are a good product, but will cost you about $400. There's a slew of HEI Ford dizzy's in ebay for under $100. I bought one for my 460 for $70 shipped from White PEreformance (skipwhite). There's also a few recent threads on the HEI dizzy's to replace the stock DuraSpark II and TFI units. It sure simplified the ignition set-up for my 460 swap in the 84 Bronco, JSM84

Yup, just like JSM said, they were cool when they first came out but now there are cheaper alternatives available if you just look around.

I surfed through ebay and picked up a 50,000 volt HEI Distributor from Street Sport Industries for $73 shipped. I still have to rebuild the front end after my collision with the Excursion, but it should be a nice performance boost to my Windsor.
