I went to the wreckers and found a set rotors, calipers and caliper brackets that are from a ford explorer, i found the caliper brackets fit onto my 9" but the rotors had to be redrilled for the wheel stud. and the center of the axle doesn't fit into the rotor i will probably machine the rotor (as oppossed to the axle) to fit. and hopefully i will have a pretty cheap (parts were about 120 bucks, on 1/2 price sale) rear disc kit. if money isn't an issue you could get a kit from ssbc or willwood. i have installed both for others, and both are nice.

Do you know if the lincolns had the same bolt pattern as the on the 9 in my 78? If so I wonder if I could use the calipers and brackets off an expoler and the roters off the lincoln.

Yes I believe the lincolns were the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern but heres the problem with the fix redecorate has proposed . Lets say you machine all these parts out everything works and your all good you saved all this money . Now your out in the middle of nowhere on a trip lets say somehow the rotor breaks . You can go to the local parts store and buy that explorer rotor anywhere but where are you going to get it machined ? And at what cost ? Whenever I do something like this I make sure no matter what the replaceable parts are off the shelf not modified parts if its just a toy its one thing but if its a daily driver thats an entirely different issue . I put disk brakes on the back of my 89 useing the front parts off a 79 dana 44 everything bolts on and all normal wear parts are off the shelf . The bolt pattern on the 9 inch I assume would be different for the big bearing vs the small bearing housings . I dont use the 9 inch so am not sure . Just something to keep in mind when modifying this stuff . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I would have to make sure the off set waas the same on either i suppose. I was actually wondering if I could use the ones off a f-150. I know alot of the newer ones came with the disk rear. I'll do some looking around and when I get something put together I'll put up pics and what I had to do.
