[b]I've changed it twice with new filters each time in 1,500 miles and it looks dirty after 350 miles. I use 5 W 30 in the winter months due to the fact that I have to park it outside and Michigan winters are pretty cold. Any suggestions?. The engine, 302, only has a little over 70 K original miles, doesn't blow smoke, great compression, no knocks, ticks, pings, and no leaks. I am hesitatnt to use an engine flush because I have heard they can do more harm then good...any suggestions? Any one running Lucas oil treatment in their oil and tranny as well?

And whats the problem?... Well that is quite NORMAL... Now you can buy a can of "Motor Flush" from the parts store and the BIG can is your best bet. You can do it at every oil change but I wouldn't. Really in most trucks the "sludge" is what keeps most of the oil IN. No joke. You might make small leaks worse. But If you really are worried about the color of your oil then you need to rebuild the motor and have the entire block hot tanked to chemically remove all the carbon build-up. A cheaper but less effective is to use motor flush. It is just solvent and you dump the can in BEFORE you drain the oil. (I do it while its cold then let it idle until the engine is at operating Temp) Now if you change the oil cold it leaves alot of crap in it so be careful and change it hot. I did it to my truck truck and in looked like Sh#! coming so i know it works. That really is all you can do. I just rebuilt the motor in October and the oil is so clear I can barely see it on the stick when its time change the oil. Well good luck...
