I have an 82 with a 351 w thats been ****** me off. I can get a late model low milage crown vic smokey mobile with a crushed rear half, thanks to a 30 ton mixer with bad brakes. Cops ok, cars mine for $500 thanks to a bud with a towing outfit My question is where can I learn what needs to be done to properly install the harness and trick the computer to operate with alot less sensors >:)

Try Ron Morris' conversion site, http://www.ronmorrisperformance.com/06tech/

Also see, http://fordfuelinjection.com/

There are only two sensors you can trick that I know of in a EEC engine, the Oxygen sensor and the EGR. Other than that it pretty much needs the other sensors. Personally, I prefer an engine that will run without a computer, that is why I love a carbed engine. I've never had my engine refuse to run, or run like crap because of a failed sensor. If you look thru the forums at engine problems, 99.9% of them are due to a sensor and nothing to do with the actual operating gear :-& . I know how to interpret my instruments and gauges using the computer God gave me :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .

Good luck,

Fred, thanks for the input, i gotta agree with everything you say but its a carbed engine thats got my pressure up. I was hoping to find a way to to have the computer take care of the air, fuel & fire, and like you said let me worry about the rest. oh well i'm working on it. peace out!

I admit it takes a lot of tinkering, but there is some good info out there on the net and in books on tuning your carb if that is the problem. You can get a air/fuel mixture gauge to fine tune the mixture with.

Here are a couple http://www.bob2000.com/carb.htm , http://holley-carburetors.com/

You need a good carb to start and most of the vacuum systems functioning to get overall satisfctory operation.

Good luck,

:)>-

What engine is in the Crown Vic, a 5.0 or a 4.6. A 5.0 will bolt right in. You will have to use all the sensors and the computer, but if you have the donor car it shouldn't be too difficult.

If it has the 4.6, that is another story. A 4.6 is as wide and as heavy as a 460 which could cause clearance issues with exhaust manifolds and such, and you would have to fab up your own motor mounts unless someone is making them for your oarticular swap.
