I was talking to a few friends, who are also Ford guys, one having an 85 F-150 and the other having a 93 F-250. I asked which my Bronco was closer to, suspention and towing ability wise. I got 2 dfferent answers. Anyone able to clear this up for me? Do I have the brakes, suspention, and framestrength of a 150 or 250, or somewhere inbetween?

Thanks.

I would say the fullsize Bronco is much more like the F-150. Similar 1/2-ton axles and suspension, as well as towing capacity/limits.

outside of body there are only minor differences between the 150 and the bronco would be nice if it were more like the bigger brother tho then again wouldn't have as much fun modding them, as the 250 is already one rock solid tough truck

would like to see a shortened frame 250 with a fullsize bronco body set on it that would be one nice ride might be cheeper than putting the f-250 stuff under our trucks better yet if you can put the 96 nose on a 91 why not try the 06 nose on a 96............please dont get me started or encourage me my wife will divorce me if I start down that road again

Speaking of modding the front end, I was actually thinking of trying to take the front end off a '77 150-250 or something similar in style to replace the front of of my '90 Bronco. I'm a diehard for the front ends from the '70s. Just got to get in and see how much work is involved, and how much I'd have to change bolt-ups and if any are the same.

I had thought of putting an 02 ranger front end on my bronco 2 held a fender up there it is dooable but need to practice body work on something else first . Man I hate body work

One other thing I hear alot of people saying that an F250 frame is so much stronger than a F150 or bronco frame . I very much disagree . For those people I have a question have you actually seen a stripped frame from each laying on the ground side by side with a tape measure in hand ? I have an 84 3/4 and an 81 F150 the frames are not thicker as alot of people think they are not different infact the only difference in the front is on the passenger side in the front there is a piece in the very front frame rail that slides into the C channel and is welded in to stiffen the rail for supporting the leaf spring mount and thats about it if you still have questions about it search my post LOOK WHAT I DID youll see my F250 short box monster plow truck because thats exactly what I did had the frames side by side and that was the only difference so I cut the factory welds pulled the plate out slid it into the F150 frame and welded it back in looked like it came from the factory that way and every bracket from the F250 matched up to the F150 frame with one bolt hole where it was supposed to be so all I had to do was drill the rest and for those still sceptical the 81 F150 frame also started life as a 2 wheel drive thats how much they didnt change the frames in those years . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

There is a company that makes a conversion kit for your 92-96 F-150/Bronco to look like the newer-style front nose of the 2000-04 F250. It's an add-on part to the hood, newer style grille, etc. Look for a post with the link from a year or so back, or try a search.

I remember that post but thats not what I like about the 250 frame its the solid axle and leaf springs and basic ride height and for that matter the rear axle is an upgrade as well the company that makes the frames very different is chevy

Hi, guys I am new to the forum but not new to Bronco's and fullsize fords. I was just going to add a little to the original question. F-150 and broncos of similar years are almost identicle. The only difference is depending on the bed size is the length of the frame. All the mechanics like brakes suspention and engine are the same. The only real difference would be in the tranny because some f-150s came as two wheel drive but broncos never came with anything but 4wd. As for the difference between f 150 and 250 the only diffeerence is in the suspention and axles, the 350 has an actual different frame depending on the year.
