carb and manifold compatibility

OK YOU GURUS!!!

My bronco hasa autolite cd7f 4 bbl. on a transplanted 289 thats trashed.What "factory " 4bbls. will fit this intake?(65 galaxy intake) I'll eventualy get a tk. avenger, or an edelbrock, but I don't know which,if either will fit the stock manifold as I'm not crazy about running an adapterfor clearance issues. But for now I can get stock rebuilts for well under $50.00 on ebay. :huh:

The only factory 4bbl I know of for the small block engine is the Holley 4180. The Big block engines used either a 4180 or 4190.

Justin, I am not familiar with your specific intake, you will need to determine if it presently uses a "spreadbore" or squarbore" carb and go from there... (its most likely a squarebore with all four butterflies being the same size)

my 67 Cougar with the factory cast iron intake took an Edelbrock (Carter) with no adaptor plate, I have heard that depending on the application, some factory 1960's 4bbl performance packages used any of these four, Autolite 4100 or 4300, Edelbrock/Carter (size dependant on performance pkg), Holley 4150, and even the Quadrajet 4MV. Although I think the quad was only used on big blocks.

My intake has four ports the same size, with the four mounting holes spread evenly. Iv'e also got a alum. plateabout 3/4 inches thick that has the valve cover vent ****** on it. does anybody know if the tk. avengers are square based as my intake is? Also, if anybody cares, Iv'e found a co. that will sell me a 470 tk. avenger for $325.00, no shipping charge, and for now a $25.00 rebate. That's about $100.00 less than the next best deal.
