body lift

Hello everyone,

Well I am seriously considering putting a 2" body lift on my 71. I haven't totally convinced myself to do it or not to do it. Pretty much the hold up is I put a new NP435 tranny in it and a 4 barrel edelbrock carb. I have decided i really don't like this set up at all and am thinking about going with a NV3550 tranny and maybe fuel injection. The bronco is stock no lift or cut fenders. I have been told I need to put in a body lift to get the NV3550 to fit. I am wanting to make the bronco a daily driver and part time off roader and am just wanting a decent set up for both. I like the 4 barrel but I screwed up and pur a hi rise manifold on it and now I can't find an air cleaner that will fit. So at this point I am totally lost and just don't know what to do. If I need the body lift to put in a new tranny do I need to change anything like fuel lines, brake lines radiator etc.........?????

with a 2 inch body lift you should be fine, you will have enough extra slack in your brake lines and what not to accomodate the lift. Depending on what you have for a fan shroud you may have to massage it a little

You need to talk to Wildhorses4x4...they are on the left coast Calif. central.

They've done dozens of these & can give you the ins-n-outs.

Same with Tom's in Oregon... both are VERY helpful.

Thanks guys for you're help. I will call Tom's Bronco's and see what they have to say. I really don't want to put a body lift on it if I don't have to.To put in the NV3550. I would much rather do a lift but the bronco is still very much in factory condition and I am trying very hard to keep that way. Just have to wait and see I guess.

Oh yea before I forget. On the roof of my bronco there is about a 2 or 3in hole in it and there is a piece of rubber that goes inside of it. Is the hole suppose to be there for some reason?? The reason I ask is the rubber piece comes off every time I drive it so I have ended up putting it in the glove box.

NO.... Sounds like some sort of antenna mount or some other device/add-on.

Ok thank you about the info on the hole in the roof. I figured that is what is was for. It just seemed really weird that the hole is there and right in the center of the roof.
