capacity for the oil

I have a 1989 bronco full size that i just bought. it has a 5.0 in it. i changed the oil today and noticed the dip stick was bone dry till i put 7 qts in it. it took around 8 to get between the lines. is this right? anybody have the measurement from their dipstick? i just wanna see if mine is the right one. also i have a part number on it if anybody might be able to figure it out that way. thanks!!!

Wow, sure you weren't filling the gas thank :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> . Seriously 5 quarts plus the filter so approximately 5.5 Qt is normal. Maybe you have the wrong dip stick.

yea i know, it cost me to change the oil. i was told to drain 2 quarts and wait for the dipstick i ordered for the 302. i just might try this. b-(

HI

My 1979 351M had a 7 quart oil pan which was factory stock. Possibily yours was ordered from factory that way or was stock also.I'm gonna change the oil on my 96 which I haven't had a month it has a 5.0 I'll letcha know hw many quarts it takes.

For parts like that, I go right to the U-Pull It and pick it up. Has to be the wrong dip stick most all motors only take 5 Qts. unless its pouring out the bottom as you pour it in.
