Hey yall,

I have a 90 bronco I just got but I cant seem to get it into 4wd Low. I can pull the stick back to 4wd hi and the 4x4 light comes on so i'm assuming 4 hi works but no matter what i try i cant get it to 4 wd low. Is there some crazy trick i dont know about? I feel like if i try n force the stick anymore its going to break something

Yo Dude There is a sweet spot in any gears that mesh. It's right between acceleration and deceleration. So from a stop, gently gas on it , then lift your foot off the gas and yank the damn stick back! no joy? try it again, remember timing is important here.

on sand, I had to shut engine off..start again and go to 4x4, hi then low..and/or, go to E4OD neutral; into Drive, then move forward a an inch then try to shift into 4 low; all w/manual Xfer case.

If its a joystick shifter like mine then you pull back till the 4x4 light comes on..then you put it in N (while stopped) on the joy stick press straight down, not pull down, but press straight down like your pushing the **** donward keeping the 90 degrees angle to the floor then pull back with a little force and it should slide in without problem. Filp back to 1st, 2nd, or Drive in the shifter and your good to go.
