yo,

It can be done.

Here is what Steve did;

83 in a 93; "...I'll tear down the old '83 and transfer everything into the "new" chassis..."

Source: by Steve83 (Steve, That dirty old truck) at http://www.supermotors.net/registry/27421995 4.9L from F-150. Completely transplanted, including computer, air filter, y-pipe, & all accessories. 130A alternator, 1996 Bronco gas tank & pump. K&N drop-in.

Drivetrain: 1978 F-250 NP-435; '84 NP-208F; Six States rear d'shaft; rebuilt front d'shaft; '96 Bronco D44IFS with original '83 diff 3.07 welded; rebuilt Ford 8.8" 3.08 open; stock F&R antisway bars & Energy polyurethane bushings all around.

Notes: The body tub is an '82, the tailgate is a '96, the doors are '80 & '94 with '94 power mirrors, the front clip is '84, and the camper shell is a '96 with a '94 Explorer roof rack & '82 sliding windows. The rear seat & dash are the original '83 parts, but the instrument cluster has been heavily modified with '88 fuel & volt gauges and a '94 PSOM. The front seats are mixed captain's chairs and the door panels are '93 XLTs with PM, PW, & PL. I've added autolamps, an auto-dimming compass rear-view mirror, aftermarket remote keyless entry. The CB, scanner, & radar detector are hard-wired and mounted overhead. Planned mods include auto-dimming brights, & 4WABS with Traction Control. The bumpers are my own design (mostly hand-built). The front has been powdercoated & includes a fold-down grille guard, fog lights, 2 storage boxes, recovery points, a spoiler, & a winch mount. I got the Ramsey RE12000 I've always wanted in 7/09. The rear bumper has an integral hitch receiver & 3 locking storage boxes.

Now, all this is being swapped; see Body Swap #2; into a 93 http://www.supermotors.net/registry/2742/78379'>http://www.supermotors.net/registry/2742/78379

one comment;

"... found this on CraigsList not even 10 miles from my house; it has a 5.8L with a SEVERE bottom-end knock, shorty headers, and possibly some kind of improved heads (maybe GT40Ps). I don't really care - I'm only after the body, frame, & steering column. I might reuse most of the wiring harness, but the rest is going into the junkpile..."

You may also have issues with mounting locations inside the fender walls and door/hood alignment,you may know,but if you don't,they don't just bolt right on,you have to shimm and adjust so everything opens and closes properly without damaging eachother.take your time,good luck.
