Hi guys

My transmission pan will not seal. I have even put one of those heavy steal pans on it and I'm still getting seepage.

My question is? there a difference in the pan for a 4x4 C6 and a two wheel. I was told from a Whole Sale House there was a difference.

Just making sure before I spend 60 bucks.

Thanks for any help.

The bolt patteren for the c6 is the same weather its a car or truck. The difference is if its flat for a car on the bottom,Or the center dips down while the rear part is up higher to clear the cross member for a truck. So you got some kind of goofy problem going on there.

Thanks Mike, that saved me 60 bucks. I'm thinking I have a burr some where on the back. What is your opinion on rubber vs cork for the pan and using sealer.

I think the cork actually works better. What I do is put sealent on the pan side and put the gasket on and line up the holes.Let it dry a little to stop the gasket from moving around. The reason I only put it one the pan is,In the future IF you need to drop the pan again, most of the gasket will stick to the pan.I hate trying to clean that stuff off the trans while fluid is dripping on me.But having the pan on the ground in front of me I can deal with cleaning it.Just dont over tighten the bolts and squish out the gasket.Thats another thing,Is the edge of your pan flat all the way around?Check that too..

the only difference in c-6 trans pans is automatic with a shallow pan and a 4x4 trans pan that is deeper and has a pick up tube in it. same bolt pattern. sounds as if the pan is warped from overtightening. as for the gasket, i prefer ruber. just my preference.
