I need some help, I just got a 351 H.O. 5.8 liter out of a 85' Bronco, I plan on sending it to a machine shop and then putting it into my 74' EB. My problem is I do not know what to build it up with. I live in Louisiana, so mud and trails will be my most frequented terrain. I plan on running no bigger than 35' tires with a 3.5 susp. lift and a 2 in body lift, and do not want to spend more than $2000 on the parts for the motor. Any suggestions on cam, intake, boring out, truck advanger carb, headers, and having it balanced.

Please Help

The weiand stealth intake is a very good one and comp cam extreme 4x4 cams are also good stay within the recomended rpm range of the cam for your needs . The weiand stealth is good from idle to 6500 . You can probably pick a cam that has a starting range of 1000 to 1500 and be just fine If you pick a big lift cam and see it has a starting range of 3000 you are goona be way unhappy unless you set the rest of the drivetrain up for it like a 3000 stall converter that will let the motor get into its operating range with that cam and then you will not have drivability on trails on the street it may be fun but actual daily driver functionality will be gone . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Your best bet is to just talk to your engine builder or the machine shop where you are having the machine work done. Tell them what you want to do with it, what it is going into, and all that other jazz and they will be able to point you into a good fit for what you are going to do with it. Everyone has their own preferred method for building an engine, but someone else might not have the right idea for your application. Just make sure you do it right the first time and do all your homework before you take it down and say 'Build it boys', cause you could end up with something that is A) too hot for a Bronco, or B) not set up the way YOU want it.

The 351 motor will be plenty of power as is if you keep the gear ratio around 4:56 with 35's. Anything you add to the motor will help but isn't needed and performance parts arn't cheap and the next thing you will know all you cash went into the motort.

Save some cash for the Cage extended radius arms and maybe a new set of long travel coils and shocks for a good ride on and off road.
