Hi. I just got a 88 Bronco myself - 300,000 miles on it and paid $750 Canadian. Left window motor seized, wire harness of the tailgate motor clipped, fuel sending unit stopped working, rust is eating the thing away, the fuel tank is about to be rusted through as well. BUT, the new window motor is just 40 bucks, the wiring I can do myself, the body panels to repair the damaged ones are between $80 and 120 each, new fuel tank and sending unit will probably be somewhere around 120 bucks. In my case, give it about $ 1500 and the thing will be good as new. My wife hates it, I love it, but it's not your everyday car. This is my second 88 Bronco. So, bottom line is, if you want one of the greatest trucks ever built and are willing to spend some extra money (not much) and quite an amount of work on it, it's the truck for you. Rust is always a killer, so for US$1300 the body should be in fair shape (not much rust); the rest can be repaired.

A couple of fast ways to tell if it's a 351 or 302 is; place your hand width wise on the intake, if you hand can go most of the way or all the way it's a 302, if your hand has no way of making it across 351; also, if you can fit a socket on the botom bolt of the thermostat houseing 351, if you HAVE to use a wrench, 302... another thing is the dizzy is almost centered on the 302 but more to the driverside on the 351... Just my $.02

thousand cash tops.(least thats how id play it) id make sure you know what trans is in it from what i hear the e4od is expensive to repair. it does run right? check engine light on? how about after twenty minutes? is there an overdrive switch? if so is it on the column or the dash? from what i understand, e4od has the button on the dash, the aod has the button on the column.
