i am quite mechanicaly inclined i think. i have always done all work on my cars and i have only owned fords. i have done just about everything on a ford exept transmission work. i do not have alot of money, but i love my ford so much, i am goint to yank out my c6 and rebuild it myself, then attept to put it back in. does anyone have any suggestions or pointers before i make a beginners mistake? any would be much appreciated. surely somone must have one with all of the fancy pants accesories on their broncos. thank you

Haynes has a transmission rebuild manual, available at most parts stores. It's not much hardr to rebuld a tranny than a motor, but cleanliness is a must and you'll needa few special tools to replace bearings/seals and such. IF it's your first time, I would find someone with experience to help you learn. Check Miesk5" Homepage (look for his profile or the link on the tech articels forum), JSM84

I did a tranny rebuild years ago on my Camaro and it was a pain. A lot of little intricate passages and parts that have to be cleaned and accounted for, and some special tools and pullers were required, etc.

While the process was interesting I did not find it fun LOL.

Now, I just take it to my local tranny rebuilder

can just keep the same torque converter in it or is it best to rebuild or replace it?
