Body lift issues

ok, so in removing my bumper and working on the 94 bronco yesterday i found that several rubber body mounts have fallen apart. Now i am considering a body lift. Can i just by the 2" body lift? are there issues with the way things align and i will need to do modifications? any suggestions or personal experiences are welcomed

I have never installed a bodylift on anything but I do know there are a few things that must not be overlooked.

First of all remember that a body lift is just what it says, a body lift. Therefore, anything that is attached to both the body and the frame will be affected. Exemples are the steering column, shifter linkages for transmission and transfer case (unless you have the "touch drive" transfer). Also, the bumpers are attached to the frame and lifting the body will create a gap between bumper and body, this is only a cosmetic thing and will not affect driving but you may not like the way it looks if you don't do something to compensate. (i.e. new bumper mounting brackets) Another important consideration is the fact that the radiator is mounted to the body so it will also be raised up causing the fan not to line up with the fan shroud.

Good tips, and the body lift will not have the stock body bushings. The kit just comes with spacers and loner bolts, some also have the front bumper re-location brackets. Bronco Graveyard and other vendors sell the rubber body bushings (10 in all), but poly urethane bushings are better if you plan to keep thhe Bronco for awhile. There's a few post on body lifts and changing the body mount bushings in the forums and tech articles, inc.uding the front core support bushing assemblies. Tohse are often a PITA to remove, I've had to cut one or both off of several rigs due to rust. JSM84

Boy does this subject bring back some fond memories. I actually had a guy on here argue with me over the same items as road **** stated. he said you didnt need to do anything with a 3" body lift. (whatever). In my opinion, you would be much happier with a suspension lift. They are more money, yes. But think about why you want to lift the truck. If you are just cruising to the mall and want it to look taller, the body lift will work fine. If you can live with all the unsightly gaps, also remember to check for wiring length issues from frame to cab as well. If you plan on taking the truck off road then the body lift is pretty much useless as far as ground clearance goes, youll only gain from the tire size, which will only be an inch or so. Personally, Ide put the stock mounts on and pony up the bucks for the real thing. youd be so much happier.

Hey do you know where I could find some re-location brackets for the front bumper?? Or do you know if theres any way I could use the stock brackets to raise the front bumper? Please let me know soon, I'm planning on getting some bigger tires soon and need a little bit more clearance just to make sure I wont rub anywhere.
