Okay guys heres another question that my wife more than i want answered. My ac/heat blower motor is working fine and goes up in down as it is supposed to however it is stuck on defrost mode. The air always blows out of the top of the dashboard instead of the vents. Is this a cable that has slipped or what. I dont have ac anymore but still fresh air when I am driving would be nice, i have not tried to take it apart yet as I was hoping to get some directions from here first. It is an 85 FSB XLT. thanks you guys always save me in a pinch

i dont have pics so just use ur head on this one lol, act like ur standing at the front of the truck, now go past the motor to the firewall, go to the left (passenger) side where the airbox is, you will see vaccume lines, check them, i think yours either fell off or cracked, they control it switching where the air blows from, or your cable could have come off or broken under the dash, check the vaccume lines first, its easier

okay thanks bro, i know i have all kinds of vaccuum problems under the hood, whoever had the truck first did a number on it. Every single wire in the engine bay has been cut and re-crimped at least once and as much as three times. I went through and soldered all of the connections and put heat shrink on them so make sure nothing is loose, not done with it yet though still have some more work to go on that and the vaccuum lines are a mess. Running a 2bbl carb on a 4 bbl intake with an adapter.

Is the actual flap for diverting air inside of that black box on the passenger side of the firewall or is it up under the dash?
