Hi!

I'm the proud new owner of a 78 bronco and was wondering what you all recommend for oil and additives if any. I'm located in the Caribbean, temperatures average between 80-90F throughout the year and the truck has quite a few miles on it.

Thanks for the help!

Hi Furmo.., welcome..!!

Many opinions here..,  Any "top name brand" oil is fine.

You didn't give much info. as to your engine.

I like Castrol..., I use their part synthetic blend. They have a "high mileage" blend as well.

Additives aren't necessary but if ya feel better using them.., Marvel Mystery oil has been around

for MANY years.

in your warm climate, 15w40  diesel engine oil, quality brand if its available to you.  if you can get an OEM FL1A filter from a Ford dealer go that way, even a medium/heavy duty oil filter may fit in there.

any of the 78/79 Broncos I had immediately got a "Zero degree" timing chain and gears , a new high volume oil pump and pump shaft.

have fun with your new toy, post up some pics if you can, love the 1st generation fullsize.

In the hot summers, 20W50 witha quart or two of LUKAS Oil works great on older engines.  I am partial to Baldwin truck filters.
