Bedliner coating

Hey Gang,

I'm finishing up my customer's 72 Bronco and am gettign ready to spray the Raptor beliner coating system. Anyone have experience with this? I've heard good things and wanted to know if there was anything I should know prior to spraying it, tips, tricks, etc. Looking forward to having the little truck all done. WOW..!!

That's impressive...! I have no clue on coating.., as I prefer paint & carpet.

Curious though., the time involved to this point.., & estimated time overall.

Thanks Bob. It's been a fun one and looking forward to hopefully getting another Bronco in the shop in the future. Well, I'll report on the bedliner coating after I spray it this weekend. Time to this point on the Bronco? He delivered it to me last November, so it's been a year almost. Total resto will be a year and a month when I deliver it to him this December. I ony run the shop part time, and devote two weeks each month to customer cars, so it could have been done faster if it was the only one I was working on. I spend roughly 70-90 (12hrs days!) hours a month on each car. You can PM me about prices and such on the truck and work if you're curious as to what it's costing. I'll give you some rough numbers. B) I'm almost as anxious to get it done as he is!!! I'm fastly becoming a classic Bronco fan for sure.

Just sprayed that bedliner. It's from U-Pol. Worked out great and covered nicely. One kit was enough to do the entire truck and an allowed me to put two coats on the front floor as well for added durability. Seems to be holding up nicely with the tools I already accidentally dropped on it! So I'd give is thumbs up so far.

So far, I don't know the exact wearability of it since I just sprayed it and the truck isn't in service yet. I'll keep you guys posted on how it works when the owner starts driving around in it. I tried to peel it up on an inconspicuous spot with no luck. It's on there pretty good. What I liked about this product over the others out there, and I've used the Herculiner with no success, is that unlike others this is a two part epoxy system. It reminds me of shooting something like a real thick epoxy primer. Seems like it's pretty touch and sticks to anything! I've dragged a few tool across it accidentally and it's held up without maring or scratching. I'll be climbing all over the truck when I put the dash in later this month so that'll be the biggest test. B)

Used it 2 but poor luck (like the other co.s). I sprayed it cuz it was cheep (er than the others avail @ the auto paint store), avail on the net, and smoother than the others. Sanded, vacked, wiped before sprayin w/ the gun they sent w/it...and put it in a garage for a wk. After last summer's (2008) unusual heat wave, before climbing on it, I saw it was cracking and peeling. I'm not a pro so can't say what happened...

Sounds like there was something on the finish before you sprayed...shrinkage in paint is because of that. Maybe a bad reducer/activator mix.
