assignment for Ranger and Sport owners

Okay, I've seen this topic several times, but I'm trying to shed a little more light on it. I've got a 74 Bronco which was either a Ranger or (more likely) a highly optioned Sport. The VIN starts with U153. I would like to know from other Sport and Ranger owners if this is true for their VIN also. Thanks.

Also, does it make sense that it is a Sport (rather than a ranger) if it has the brown houndstooth style seats, but a parchment dash and door panels?

If I remember right, "Sport" is the outside trim package and "Ranger" is the interior package. Mine was an "Explorer" interior and Sport exterior, it had cloth seats & door panels. Rangers should have come with houndstooth fabric and rear quarter covers. Both had a rubber floor mat with the Bronco ensignia over the tunnel.
