I just bought a 1979 ranger xlt bronco. it has original engine but i already have a 351 W with some mods giving 380+ HP i need to get a transfer and a transmission anyway as of now truck has a plain c6 no transfer.

what do you think about an AOD or a c4-c6 with transfer. To be honest i don't even know if that is possible i haven't heard if an AOD from a 80 - 86 will fit.

has anyone heard of this swap.

Just to let you know i'm looking for a ocasional no rough use truck and not a super 4x4 to go to the end of the world.

thanks

The 351W, C6, NP208 is a pretty strong combination. If you are not planning on a lot of long distance highway driving the OD of the AOD doesn't buy you much.

Good luck,

:)>-

It's not im trying to save some gas it's just i'll need to buy a transfer and maybe a trans and since i have the 351W with moods i was thinking if that will be a most highway and fast drive than the 351m

Do you know if f 150 truck 70's trans and transfer will do in this truck or bronco has a special combination.

thanks there

For a 351W the transmission has to be from a Small Block engine. Some engines were Big Block engines and the transmission will not bolt up to the 351W. There are other guys here that have a better understanding of the various matches, guys like Freak and Blade262US, Broncoholics for few.

Good luck,

if you're pushing 380+ hp you are going to be better off with C6..thats just my opinion...while you're at it try to locate NP205 transfer case for it they are really strong and will match your drivetrain...you can use a straight 6 300 trans with the 351W same bolt pattern same goes for 302 as well 351c 351m 400m are big block bellhousings

No big block AOD the E4OD from a 460 will work kinda rough finding one and just so you know swampthing the 351C has the small block belhousing pattern . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Your'e right i'll go with the C6 in case I go for the swap. I just picked up the truck and feels pretty good with the engine it has. I don't know if a 351M or a 400 but feels good.

my f150 just died yesterday so i'll have to use this for a dayle in a while. 1 or 2 weeks.

i'll start with the interior cleaning while using it.

Thanks for the info.

any lead on a c6 4x4 in a decent price incl. np 205 transfer.

thanks
