1991 bronco 5.8 L automatic transmission took it for a drive today battery light came on, dash charge gauge pegged, brought it back home turned it off a few minutes later turned it back on was running rough then just shut off.
I could smell burnt electrical wiring inside but I do not see any thing burned under the dash and will no longer runs although it does crank, I do not hear the fuel pump whine, I did run the diagnostic check on the fuel pump relay and EEC relays they all seem to be fine if I jump the fuel pump relay I then could hear the fuel pump prime is there a fusible link that I could have blown under the dash

Someone else I am sure will chime in, but wasn't that one of the years for the ignition switch recall?

miesk5's responses are so... right on.
I didn't read through it, but considering that your battery light came on before it stalled, I'd consider a blown alternator.
try giving that a smell. Perhaps disconnect it and see if she'll start.

Puling codes is a good place to start looking

Spent the day chasing wires nothing burned, got a rebuilt Alt from local rebuilder in Escondido Ca that I have been using for years, they checked my alternator and the regulator was over charging.

That burned electrical smell in my experience lingers, so I started getting close to areas under the dash I could barely smell it in the ECM so I pulled it and I could smell it inside, opened it up and sure enough 2 blue resistors are burned and black trails leading to them from the main center chip.

So now the question is. Where do I get one? I found a company online Flagship One and Car COmputer Exchange, neither have decent reviews.

Anybody recommend where I could find one?

Thanks

Try Cardone.com, they have a list of retailers on their website and you can look up the part number yourself. Some are available through rock-auto and Amazon once you have the part number.
Hope that helps
Cheers
