For a 302 it is 15426378. For a 351 or a highoutput 302 it is 13726548

Just a note... don't do what I did and think the dist. goes clockwise.... trust me, I've tried and it doesn't work.... they only spin counter clockwise...

Yea I did that the first time, I knew it was counter clockwise but I was in a hurry to get done before dark. Dont leave the TDC indicator in the spark plug hole when you crank it over either. It sounds like a 44 mag. haha It actually didnt break it though..

Well I got the bronco running. I was checking it with a timing light and its one "notch" over from "0" going toward ATC. I have the Dist. turned all the way clockwise and it runs and starts fine but when I give it some gas she wants to fall on her face. If I turn the dist counter clockwise, it doesnt want to start or idle. I think the timing should be set before TDC. Any Ideas?

Sounds like you are out a tooth or two. Mark the location of your rotor to the side body of the dist, pull the dist out, very slowly so that the rotor doesnt move more than it needs to unmesh itself from the camshaft. Rotate the rotor so that it will be back on the mark that you put on the dist when the distributer is centered, then reinstall, take note of how much the rotor turned as you pull it because you will need to set it that much again before you drop it back in so that the rotor points to your line. Understand? If you can't understand my babble let me know and I will try and clarify a bit

So I should turn the rotor after I have it marked one full revolution around then leave it a little bit before the mark and slip it in, and when it is all the way in it will be directly on the mark?

One full revolution? ummm no. Mark the current location of the rotor to the body of the dist. When you lift the dist out of the engine , it will turn about a half an inch. Mark this location as well in a way that you can tell your marks apart. Set the dist to a point in which it is centered (you can turn it equal distances either way) Turn the rotor by hand straight to your second mark that you just marked upon removeal. put the dist back into place. (note, you do not completely remove the dist in this process. do not add any steps. Do this word for word) Put slight downward pressure on the dist and bump engine over, allow dist to drop into its seated location. set the dist so that it is centered again in case it has wandered off, tighten retaining bolt so that dist can be turned with a small amount of force. start engine and set timing.

Alright, set the #1 cyliner to TDC, double check your firing order and position on the distributor cap. Did you pull the distributor out? If so, it might be off by just one tooth on the gear. Also there is a fuse looking thing on near the distibutor, its called a SPOUT connector, pull it out when timing the engine. Then check the distributor rotor position after the distributor has been put back in. Slowly move the distributor and check your idling rpms, mine are around 750 for a 302. Damn, I just typed all this and then read the post above this one, what ever its for future refrence now.
