Have an '85 Bronco II, 2.8...it is about to make me pull my hair out...It backfires horribly, cuts out, spits and sputters then takes a wild notion to run like a champ...It has new plugs and wires, all new filters, carb has been cleaned, timing has been checked and is right...all the hoses and vacuum has been checked and fixed...We are at stand still with this thing...Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

I read this the other day and didn't have a clue until I read 92 bronco in progress's response. Maybe you are getting water in the tank. The water settles to the bottom gets sucked up and the truck runs crappy until it is gone. It couldn't be too much water, or it wouldn't run at all.

IF there is enough moisture in the air for dew to form in the morning, one may get condensation inside the tank. The less fuel in the tank, the more moist air, the more condensation.

Didn't another member have water leaking into the tank? Was it rusted?

I found the post/thread I was thinking of.
