4WD issues

If anyone can tell me why my truck is coming out of 4wd please tell me. What it does is when i put it in 4wd is goes for a few feet then pops right back out, i go to put it in neutral and it makes a weird noise like the gears are grinding, but when i put it back in drive it doesnt move. if u can answer this id appriciate it.

Best guess would be;

Loose/broken linkage on the transfer case

Badly worn shifting fork & collar inside the t-case

(this is assuming it's a manual shifter)

If it's push button then "that" system would need insp.

(Not familiar with that type myself)

yeah its a manual shift, i hate push buttons lol but thanks for the tip

I can tell you with 99% certanty that if the body is not hitting the shifter then you will find after taking the T case out and opening it up that the rubber hose for the oil pump has dried up and broken after that happened the oil pump locked up and after that the chunks started flying . You will need a new 4 low fork and an oil pump kit and thats if its just the usual . I have had this happen to 3 cases and have gottne countless others for parts that have had the same thing happen to them . Good news is there easy to rebuild if you look around here I posted pics as I rebuilt my last one and I can get you a guys email that deals in parts for them you can rebuild it for under $200 with all quality parts . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
