My son and I have a 93 Ford Bronco 4WD and would like to make this a project truck and add a 6" suspension lift and tires and gears. The Bronco has a 302 tired motor with 177,000 miles. If we were going to do the job right I would think that a 351 motor would be the way to go. My question "is this an easy swap?" Any sites I might go to that has detailed info? What size tires will fit under a 6" lifted Bronco? We were thinking 36" tires. Thanks!

Yes, a 351W will sit right in the 302's place, on the same mounts. The 351W is wider than the 302, so you will need to cut your crossover pipe(exhaust), and add a piece in. You will also need the computer from a 351W truck(pre '94 60 pin vs 104), but this is just a plug in, as well as all the brackets, crank pulley, flywheel, starter and lower intake. The rest you can swap over from your 302.

My brother-inlaw, and I just completed this swap on his '90 F150, but we had a donor truck, and complete 351W.

There are a lot of crte engines available if you do a Google search on Ford 351 Crate Engine. You can also order from Auto Zone.

Good luck, :)>-

If you've got a C6, AOD or Manunal no problems with tranny since not Computer controled. You'll run into the most trouble swapping a carb'd motor in a EFI will be redoing the Ign. system to work with a Carb. Theres a few aftermaket units like the MSD 6a. swapping back to a carb's duraspark system you'll have to rewire the whole system.

The 302EFI to 351EFI swap is like stated. pretty much bolt in job.

So going the other way. I have access to a free 89 302 out of a van that only has 110,000 miles on it and runs like new. What would be involved in replacing my 351W with that engine? Don't know if I'll be happy with the smaller engine but I can't beat the price.

Thanks

Mike
