300 to 351w swap

I have an 83 with a 300 and standard transmission, and an 84 with a 351W automatic. I want take the engine and transmission out of the 84 and put in the 83. Has anyone done this? What I really want to know before I start this project, is if the motor mount holes will be the same and will the automatic transmission bolt up to the frame where the manual was.

Yes it will go in there the holes are stamped in the frame . You will need to completely remove the six mounts from the frame and when you pull both motors you will see exactly what has to be swaped . The V8 motor frame mounts are attached to the frame with acorn rivets so a torch is a must and then just bolt them in the other frame . And yes the tranny will bolt to the same crossmember . OK thats what I was hoping. have you done this before? what about reverse lights? just splice the external wires together as they come off the transmission?

LOL yes I have done that before look at the top right I think it is on the home page and theres a button there that says search put my name in there and look for a post that said LOOK WHAT I DID , That truck started life as an 81 F150 2 wheel drive with a 300 6 , I am fixing to put together another I have here and the frame was a 92 with a 300 6 so I have to take out all the mounts just like I told you and put in all the V8 mounts I have . As for the backup lights its the black with purple tracer wires that come from the switch there are 2 one has 12volts on it all the time and the other goes back to the lights . /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

looks good, i prefer the 351 auto to the 300 manual when it comes to lager tires, i think i would just go through clutches.
