Hi, I know this might be a crazy question without seeing my Bronco, but I'm just looking for a rough estimate on how many labor hours it would take to replace the header gaskets (non-collector) on my 1988 BRONCO XLT W/351 5.8Ltr. The headers are the JBA shorty's and they are bolted directly to the head.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

Hmmmmm...,

Nobody wants to answer this so I'll take a stab at it.

I could change exh. gaskets 10 min. per side....on an older "bare bones"

engine.

Now with all the smog "gobblie-****", I would imagine a shop would want 1-2 hrs. to R&R all the tubes, hoses wires, etc., assuming you can actually SEE the headers..?

Not a crazy question.... took me an hr. to remove all that stuff & un bolt the exh. manifold on my El Camino.

HTH,

Bob

G'day, there is one major factor which will determine the time this will take, namely how corroded are the bolts (nuts) on the headers. One thing you can do before starting to take the headers off, spray a WD40 like substance on them several times to loosen the rust, and use the proper tools.

Good Luck.
